The History of Berrysburg

Berrysburg was incorporated by an act of assembly on May 24th, 1871.

Berrysburg was originally called "HellerShtettle / Hellerstown".

"The plan of the town was like that of a typical German village in which each owner had a small plot of ground sufficient for raising food and keeping livestock. Hence, one could live on a farm in Berrysburg or establish a business or trade to accommodate the residents of the area."
(From the Historical Book of Berrysburg and Mifflin Township printed by the Sunbury Daily Item, Sunbury, PA in 1969.)
